Jamie Simpson Horticulturalist and Author of the book Bush Foods & Survival Plants will introduce you to many of the plants featured in the book, indigenous plants with traditional uses. Jamie pays respect to the Kulin community.
He will present traditional and culinary uses of Victorian Indigenous plants and have a display of plants and materials to show us the many uses of plants found in all vegetation communities. Aboriginal people have used these plants for thousands of years and the environment has proven to be able to provide everything humans need to survive. And within the basic connection to our environment we learn the values required for sustainable communities. You learn to feel the land as your observations expand.
Jamie is a 6th Generation Melbournian, Horticulturalist and the author of a new book ‘Bush foods and Survival Plants of South-East Australia’ which will be available at the festival.
