Trees and vegetation can cool our cities by providing shade, reflecting sunlight and by releasing moisture into the air through their leaves in a process called transpiration. We want to see more greening in Melbourne by planting more plants and trees to grow our Urban Forest. Importantly, the more plant biodiversity we have – the more likely our Urban Forest will survive a changing climate to continue to provide habitat for our city’s creatures.

These Doc Eco Lunchbox Sessions will focus on Biodiversity. In these sessions we will break down ideas around why biodiversity is important and necessary for the longer term survival of life through hard times. Using colored pencils and graphite, we will draw multi-species assemblages to illustrate biodiversity.
