For thousands of years, the making of strong cordage was an everyday life skill. Nets, clothes, shelter, fire, baskets, water carrying, rope – what would we do without it? In this interactive demonstration and talk, bushcraft enthusiasts Jamie Simpson and Claire Dunn will introduce you to indigenous plant fibres with traditional uses, including making string from grass and bark and making rope from stringy bark.

Jamie Simpson Horticulturalist and Author of the book Bush Foods & Survival Plants. His Walkabout Education is dedicated to connecting people with and understanding their unique natural environment. With respect to the Kulin community.

Claire Dunn is a barefoot explorer, Rewilding pioneer and author of bestselling memoir My Year Without Matches: Escaping the City in Search of the Wild.
