Our food system is broken. The so called “Green Revolution” of food production, which promised high yields and an abundant supply of healthy food to feed the world – has been an abject failure.
Large scale industrial agriculture and mono cropping systems have caused massive soil loss around the world and hundreds of thousands of square kilometres of once fertile land now is so degraded that it is unusable for conventional food growing.
At current rates of land degradation by large scale agriculture, it is estimated that we have less that 60 years before we will run out of land to produce food in this way. Well before this however, we will see huge detrimental impacts from climate change that will affect food growing in a multitude of ways.
Add to this the huge toxic load of herbicides, pesticides and other chemicals that are pervasive throughout our food supply, and which are now being linked to the current epidemics in illnesses from diabetes to cancer, and it is evident that we are facing a crisis of global proportions. The good news is that there is a growing revolution in food growing, agriculture and land stewardship.
Come and discover how you can be a part of the change to a truly sustainable model of agriculture and food growing that regenerates degraded environments, creates fertility and healthy soil, and produces clean nutrient dense food that fosters health and wellbeing.
